The World Junior (Under-20 years of age) Championship is held bi-annually on even numbered years with Kralupy, Czech Republic hosting the inaugural 2000 event, Champery, Switzerland in 2002, Martin, Slovakia, the third in 2004, Aosta, Italy in 2006, and most recently in St. John’s Canada June of 2008.
The age categories of U-18 and U-16 at the world stage were introduced in 2008 in Zvolen, Slovakia. 2010 Villach, Austria hosted the U-20, while U18 and U-16 competed in Most, Czech Republic.
All three categories together were hosted in 2012 in cities Pisek and Strakonice, Czech Republic and in 2014 in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. The past World Junior Championships in all categories were be hosted in Sheffield, Great Britain in July 2016.
In order to qualify for any of the World Championship tournaments, National teams must ensure that their National Governing Body is a member of the ISBHF, or has applied for membership. Please see the HOW TO JOIN section for more information, or if you do not yet have an official National Governing Body.
U20 & U18 World Championships
A player must be of age on the first day of the year of the tournament, or later.
A player wanting to participate in the Under 20 or Under 18 tournament must be born no earlier than the first day of January, of the year of the tournament.
Applied to year 2018:
U20: players born 01/01/1998 or later
U18: players born 01/01/2000 or later
