1. What are your expectations and goals for your team through this tournament?
One of our main expectations and goals is to represent Canada well in St. John's and be excellent hosts to our Ball Hockey friends from around the world. There is no doubt that the people of St. John's, our players and staff will make sure of this as it looks to be setting up for an excellent week of the world's best Junior Ball Hockey. Being defending World Champions at the U18 level, our goal is to play hard within our team systems and provide ourself the best opportunity to repeat our Gold winning performance from 2016.

  1. How long have you been coaching Ball Hockey?
Personally, I have been involved on the Ball Hockey coaching spectrum for 9 years. What started out Provincially with teams at home, has turned into my 3rd trip to Junior World's with Team Canada, visiting Slovakia in 2014 and England in 2016. I was on the staff of Canada U18 that won Gold in Sheffield. I am currently finishing my playing career as well but look forward to many years of representing our country in a coaching capacity.

  1. What type of team do you have? What style of play can fans expect from your team?
Our team expects to show quick and skillful ball movement, mixed in within typical Canadian toughness on the ball. We have 12 returning players from the 2016 World's who won Gold at the U16 level, so these players experience and poise are expected to shine through. Our defence and overall team defensive play expects to show well and provide a serious challenge for other team's offences. The speed and creativity of our forwards will provide the same challenge for their defence.

  1. Who are the players to watch on your team, and what makes them special?
As mentioned previously, our 12 returning players that have played the World's in Sheffield will be well prepared to make an immediate impact on the floor. We do not have the luxury to play in the off season as a team as we are selected from coast to coast in Canada, so our impact players always establish themselves early in the tournament. We are very team oriented in thoughts but if we were to mention some players, one would be Eric Florchuk. Eric was recently selected in the NHL Entry Draft and is also one of our returning players. His offence and team leadership should speaks volumes for itself. I also expect that our 4 players representing their home province of Newfoundland will show very well and play hard and proud in front of their home town.
  1. What do you look most forward to when visiting Canada and the St Johns NL region?
I have been in St. John's twice previously for Ball Hockey and can attest that St. John's is the utmost of great hosts for our sport. The people and atmosphere alone make Canada proud to host here and people visiting Newfoundland for the first time are in for an excellent experience. There are also Canadian players and families who have not been here and they will get to experience a corner of our Country that is truly unique and beautiful. I would encourage everyone involved with the tournament to enjoy all of St. John's and surrounding areas. On behalf of all proud Canadians, welcome to The Rock!
